Introducing the Voice Coach: Live Callouts While You Play
The LoL Brain Companion now speaks your most urgent live callouts aloud while you play. Here is how the voice coach works and how to turn it on.
The companion has always shown a live coach feed during your games: objective windows, power spikes, tempo swings, and reminders when a game is slipping. The problem with any on-screen feed is simple. When you are actually playing, you are looking at your lane, not at a second window. So we made the coach talk.
What the voice coach does
While you are in a game, the companion reads the live state of the match and decides, moment to moment, what the single most important thing to tell you is. When that callout is urgent enough, it says it out loud. Baron is up. You have your ultimate and they do not. You are giving up kills, back off and reset. The same intelligence that drives the on-screen feed now drives a voice, so you can keep your eyes on the game.
It only speaks when something matters. The coach is gated by an urgency threshold and it never repeats the same line back to back, so it stays quiet during calm stretches and speaks up exactly when a window opens.
Free, offline, and genuinely lightweight
We had two hard rules building this: it must be free, and it must never cost you a single frame.
The voices run on a compact neural text-to-speech model that lives inside the app. Nothing is streamed from the cloud, nothing is billed per word, and it keeps working with your internet off. Generating a line takes a fraction of a second on the CPU, on its own thread, well away from the work your GPU is doing to render the game. In practice you will not notice it in your frame time at all.
Because playback happens in the companion's background process rather than in a browser window, the coach still speaks when League is fullscreen and the companion is not focused. That is the whole point: you should never have to tab out to hear it.
Make it yours
The voice coach is off by default. When you want it, open Settings and find the Voice Coach section, where you can:
- Pick a voice. A male or female English voice, whichever you prefer to hear over a game.
- Set volume and speed. Tune it to sit under your game audio and comms.
- Choose how much it talks. From only-critical callouts to a chattier setting, so it matches how much guidance you actually want.
There is a Test voice button so you can hear your settings before you queue.
Try it
The voice coach is live now in the latest LoL Brain Companion. Install or update the app, enable it in Settings, and let the coach call the game while you focus on playing it. If you are still drafting your games by feel, pair it with the draft assistant so you walk into every game with a plan and a voice to keep you on it.
Frequently asked questions
Yes. The voice coach ships with the LoL Brain Companion at no cost, and it runs fully offline. The voices are bundled with the app, so there is nothing extra to buy or download after you install it.
No. Speech is generated by a small neural model that runs on your CPU in a fraction of a second, on a separate thread from the game. It does not touch your GPU and has no measurable impact on frame rate.
Yes. The coach runs in the companion's background process and speaks even when its window is not focused, so you hear callouts without alt-tabbing. For best results run League in borderless mode.
You can pick a male or female English voice, adjust the volume and speed, and set how urgent a callout must be before it is spoken. It is off by default, so you opt in from Settings when you want it.
